Golf
If golfing is
something that you are fond of, then Atlantic City, NJ is a great
place for you to be. Golf resorts, clubs and courses have become
very popular and many are open to the public. In 2009, Atlantic City
made the list as one of the "Top 10 Golf Cities in America" on
Forbes Traveler. There are approximately 19 courses in and around
Atlantic City, and many of them are open year-round. You can plan a
full golf vacation getaway or spend just one day golfing.
Whether you are a beginner or a more seasoned golfer you will find a
course for your level of golfing experience. Some of the courses are
a little more challenging than others and you can choose either a
9-hole or 18-hole course. Each course is beautiful, unique and
expertly designed. The courses have tight fairways, well-manicured
greens, and many of the courses are lined with trees or with views
of the water.
One of the most popular, championship-level public golf courses is
at the Atlantic City Country Club. It has a complete driving range
and practice facility. This is a links style course. Links is the
oldest style of golf course and was first developed in Scotland.
Trees line some of the fairways and there are a few fairway bunkers
and a few hills on the fairways. Most of the terrain is flat,
however. This golf course is open from March 17 to December 31, has
18 holes and its earliest tee time at 8 a.m.
Seaview Golf Resort has two different courses: Bay Course and Pines
Course. Bay Course is a more difficult course than Pines Course.
There is a very large practice facility. The fairways have bent
grass and on each side of the fairways is Kentucky Bluegrass. The
Bay Course is a links style course with fairways that are lined with
a few trees. The Pines Course has several par 3s (back to back) that
are 200 yards plus each. This golf course is open year round, has 18
holes and the earliest tee time is at 6 a.m.
Links at Brigantine Beach Golf Club has a practice green, but no
driving range. This is also a links style golf course and the layout
is well-liked. This course has breathtaking views of the bay, a
gentle rolling terrain and very few trees. This is a great course
for golfers of all skill levels. This golf course is open year
round, has 18 holes and the earliest tee time is at 6 a.m.
Other golf courses that you might like to tee off at are Ballamor
Golf Club, Blue Heron Pines, Harbor Pines, McCullough's Emerald Golf
Links, Shore Gate Golf Club, Sea Oaks Golf Club and Twisted Dune
Golf Club.
